  3. I thought you could do this in the Finder anyway – just select the files and drag them on to the Mail/ Entourage icon in the Dock…unless I’m missing something. Maybe that’s why no-one has seen the need to do it before..

  5. Hi,
This action was the first thing I created when I bought Tiger. I just did not know that I can share it with the other folks here… And I also did not know that I can just drop files onto Mail icon…

  6. Darg and drop is the daddy of all OSX functions. Create a shortcut to a printer on the desktop – drag a file – it prints it. This sort of thing is in the OS, this means that the automater version of “attach to mail” is rather redundant given the previously mentioned ability to drag and drop on the mail icon in the dock.

  7. redundant? not entirely. i created this some workflow from scratch to replace the drag and drop method i’d been using. the version i created has the simple advantage of automatically adding the recipient of the attachment.

  8. I had also created a “right-click to attach selected items to mail” job and love it. I would really like to see the name of the file as the subject though! Any ideas?

  9. What I would really love to see is an automator script that sends each file in a folder to a recipient one by one.

I have a stack of files I need to email, but i cant do it all at once, so if i could make a script that selects each file, sends it to a nominated address and then moves on to the next file … that would save me loads of time.

  10. I would like to be able to highlight a file on the desktop and then attach it to the current ‘front’ message in mail.

What I tend to do is create a mail message, add an attachment and then go looking for other attachments which I then want to add to the message I am in the middle of creating. It is easy to add an attachment to a new message (I would just drag and drop to the mail icon in the dock), it is the adding of a second or third attachment to a message which would be very useful to me.

Has anyone worked out how to do this?

  11. David – You could try making a finder plugin using “Add Attachments to Front Message”, but from what I’ve tested it’s a bit buggy (it tends to only work on new messages the workflow creates, not manually created new messages).

  12. Hey there – I find this useful for sending PDFs with a ‘standard’ email attached. BUT does anyone know how to get your / a signature attached? It doesn’t do it at the mo…

  13. Just drag the file onto the mail icon. No automator flow needed… :>

  14. I like the method shown in this screencast.
You can send attachments to places without having to address the mail and click send and all that stuff!

  16. Quicksilver does this and much more. No need for workflows.

  17. Does anyone one know if this can work for ‘Entourage’, as opposed to ‘Mail’ which the workflow demonstates? Please any advice would be much appreciated… cheers?

  18. Ah, simplicity. Thank you for (re)revealing one the original Mac OS Interface workflows: Drag and drop.

  19. I created the attach to mail and would like to edit it. But it doesn’t show up in automator anymore. Or I would like to delete it and start over. Any help would be great.
