**Function:** Uses the Adobe DNG Converter to convert raw files to DNG format. Batch process your DNG conversions! Include DNG conversion in more complex graphics processing pipelines! Amaze your friends! Confound your enemies!
**Author**: [Ben Long](http://www.completedigitalphotography.com)
**Requires**: [Adobe DNG Converter 3.2](http://www.adobe.com/products/dng/main.html)
**Input**: (files/folders)
**Output**: (files/folders)
**Notes**:
v1.6: Updated for Leopard compatibility.
This new version offers substantial speed improvements over the previous, 1.0 version. However, to achieve this speed increase, two previous options have been dropped. Consult the included readme for more details.
It seems that my workflow using the previous version did the conversion as I specified, and the originals ended up in the trash. The new version works but leaves the original files in place… or am I missing something?

Andrew, if you pass the new version a folder, it will work much faster than the old version, because it will only launch the converter once. The old version launched it for every file. Unfortunately, because of this change, I can no longer have the delete originals option. You can always add this functionality to your workflow by passing the source folder on to a spotlight action that finds your original raw files, and then a move to trash action.

I guess I don’t understand how to use these actions that have [original] for name and destination. I tried running it by putting “Ask for Finder Items” first and passing it a folder, but it’s not working. I also tried putting in “Get Folder Contents”. If you can’t tell, I am a complete Automator novice.

Does this work with the latest version of DNG converter? I tried it but it just launches DNG converter and quickly quits.

I use Contenta Converter for this task and am loving it, because it does not make it complicated.

This seems ridiculous, but I can’t get the action to import into Automator. I’ve tried double-clicking and drag-and-dropping into the automator window and it just won’t go. I’m in 10.5.7, is there any reason this shouldn’t be working?

Scratch that. File>Import Action did the trick. That’s what I get for posting before having coffee. :/
