Here's another Workflow I built, and it's actually somewhat useful! *Email Images* takes any images you select, resizes them down to 640 pixels, and attaches them to a new message in Mail. iPhoto has this function built in, but for those who don't use iPhoto (like me, who uses iView MediaPro), it can be very helpful.
The Action that resizes images automatically saves over the original unless you specify it being copied to a new location. Rather than give the user the extra step of having to save the sized images, I have the image saved to /tmp/, which makes this Workflow behave seamlessly.
Sounds useful. I also use iViewMediaPro and I lament the lack of a good email-function. Can you select the images in IVMP with this workflow or is it Finder only?

This workflow is Finder only, although thumbnail-drags from iView to this Workflow as a Folder Action or as a context menu item should work– I’ll have to test it
iView is of course very scriptable, so I would love to see the iView folks make some Automator Actions, it would be a no-brainer.

An alternative solution can be found at Infofilm Digital Media (http://www.infofilm.nl/download-freeware-shareware/index.html). Their script plugin for iView MediaPro 2 automatically resizes and compresses the selected images and adds them as attachment to a new mail message (in Apple Mail, Microsoft Entourage, Eudora, Mailsmith or Powermail).
You can either select images by thumbnail or label them while in full screen mode or slide show mode. You can also define your own resize and compress preferences.
Preserves embedded EXIF/GPS meta data. Professionals can add all metadata and annotations of the original images as a textfile with the mailed photos.
US $ 10.00 and worth every penny. I have used their script since iView 1.5.x.

That’s a good script, I’ve tested it out. Definitely worth the $10, seeing as there’s no other solution for iView. Hopefully Automator will allow the creation of a workflow with the same functionality.

Here’s a solution for iView and Entourage users:

It’s a droplet that you can add to the “Helper Applications.” Works perfectly for me (although I may switch back to Mail once I get Tiger).
