Ben Waldie of Automated Workflows, LLC is hosting a new video podcast series for Peachpit Press called "Mac Automation Made Simple".
The podcasts focus on providing tips and tricks for using Automator and AppleScript in Mac OS X. The first four episodes are now available on Peachpit's website, and in iTunes. New episodes will be posted every couple of weeks.
Apple has released the allegedly overdue Mac OS X 10.5.3 Update. Changes to Automator include:
Converts movies to iPhone format using QuickTime Pro and then adds it to the iTunes library.
Switches your dock style in Leopard. If your dock is 3D, it will become 2D. If it is 2D, your dock will become 3D
Converts song in iTunes to MP3, mono, 64 kbps, then restores to AIFF and full song duration
Allows you to embed arbitrary Python code inside an Action to process anything.
Adds media files to a particular playlist in your iTunes collection. This action supports video file formats too.
Moves files to sub-directories according to a specified pattern using the file’s metadata (EXIF, ID3, …).
